Children of eligible Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas and WEC Business Services employees and retirees can apply for a Daughters and Sons Scholarship for the 2019-20 academic year.
The application period runs Dec. 15 through Feb. 15, 2019.
Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 are expected to be awarded for the 2019-20 academic year.
To qualify, a Peoples Gas/North Shore Gas Daughters and Sons Scholarship applicant must:
- Be dependent children, age 24 or younger, of full- or part-time active or retired employees.
- Be a high school senior or graduate, or current postsecondary undergraduate.
- Plan to enroll or continue full-time in undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school during the 2019-20 academic year.
- Have a parent who is a retiree or a current part- or full-time employee with at least one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline. WEC Business Services employees must live in or have their primary work location in the North Shore Gas service area.
The program will use Scholarship America’s selection criteria ‒ academic performance, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of career and educational goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, an outside appraisal and financial need.
Awards are renewable for up to three years for a four-year degree program and one year for a two-year or vocational-technical degree. Recipients will be notified by Scholarship America in April.
