In 2023, the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), which regulates our rates, directed us to file a long-term gas infrastructure plan (LTGIP) by July 1, 2025, to identify proposed capital investments over a five-year period.
For nearly 125 years, we have delivered safe, reliable, natural gas to residents and
businesses in the 54 communities between Winnetka and the Illinois-Wisconsin border.
We understand the changing energy landscape, and this plan will address the need for natural gas now and in the future by taking into consideration current
and future demands, clean and sustainable energy sources, safety, reliability and affordability.
LTGIP components
Capital investments
Proposed capital investments for distribution (including services and metering), transmission and storage assets over the next five years to address safety and reliability needs within our service area.
Regulatory drivers
Regulatory drivers for proposed capital investments, including the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s requirements, reconfirmation of transmission piping under the Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure rule, Distribution Integrity Management Plan, and Transmission Integrity Management Plan.
Safety and reliability
Safety and reliability programs related to aging infrastructure replacement.
Work plan
As part of the requirement, we filed a work plan July 1, 2024, outlining what makes up the LTGIP. The LTGIP needs to demonstrate not just why the capital project is reasonable and prudent, but how we arrived at the decision in the first place. Our LTGIP will prioritize, for our customers, a safe, reliable, clean and affordable natural gas delivery system.
Public engagement
Public engagement in LTGIP development is a component of our planning process. We encourage you to provide feedback on resource planning by submitting comments or attending a planning workshop.
